The dominant thread is genome architecture resolved at assembly level and interpreted mechanistically. The Braarudosphaera bigelowii preprint assembles 472.1-Mb nuclear and organellar genomes for a nitroplast-hosting haptophyte and relates them to remodeling of nitrogen metabolism. The Polytrichaceae preprint uses ancient U/V sex chromosomes in haploid mosses to show slow expansion of recombination suppression. The Warnstorfia fluitans preprint reports a 725 Mb de novo assembly with 30,421 predicted genes plus chloroplast and mitochondrial genomes. The published zygnematophycean study, using 104 transcriptomes across 2243 loci, contributes phylogenomic framing of algal relatives of land plants rather than assembly-level detail. The Arctic adaptation preprint reports convergent selection without assembly-level results and is not part of this thread. What is new is linking resolved genome structure to organelle-host metabolism and recombination history.
