Reference genomes for non-model taxa: tapeworm, lobster, and lanternfish assemblies

The dominant thread is the generation of reference genomes for taxa outside established model systems. The Hymenolepis diminuta assembly (PacBio HiFi; seven scaffolds, N50 29.25 Mb, 186.53 Mb total, 95.7% BUSCO completeness) provides a single-taxon resource for a rat tapeworm. The slipper lobster draft male genome (0.913 Gbp) identifies an XY sex system and yields a validated 171 bp PCR sexing marker, linking genome generation to monosex aquaculture. The glacier lanternfish assembly (PacBio, Hi-C) extends this resource to immune biology, with comparative analysis reporting MHC I and II loss in Myctophinae. What is new is the explicit move from assembly to an applied diagnostic and to comparative immune interpretation. Scope differs across items, so the shared element is purpose rather than taxonomic or methodological breadth.
