Modeling glioblastoma invasion and proliferation from MRI and single-cell imaging data
The common thread is recovering mechanistic, quantitative descriptors of glioblastoma behavior from imaging through explicit modeling rather than direct measurement. A bioRxiv preprint fits a 1D reaction-diffusion model to radial tumor density from single time-point MRI segmentations to estimate the migration-to-proliferation ratio. A hybrid agent-based and PDE model simulates intranasal neural stem cell migration under IL-10 and CXCL12 pretreatment combined with radiotherapy to evaluate combination strategies. GlioTrace couples ex vivo imaging with machine learning and probabilistic frameworks to track single-cell invasion phenotypes and state transitions. What is new is the attempt to extract biologically interpretable parameters from single-timepoint acquisitions. The items do not establish that these approaches generalize beyond the settings reported.
