Stochastic variability and network structure set cellular timing and size
The dominant thread across these preprints is that timing and size in cellular systems are governed by stochastic variability and regulatory interaction structure rather than steady-state endpoints. A stochastic map unifies mother machine and lineage-tree models of bacterial cell size control, finding that extrinsic noise dominates size variability. A hybrid Petri net model of Bacillus subtilis sporulation under ATP depletion quantifies energy efficiency and GTP buffering through stochastic regulatory modeling. What is new is treating variability and interaction structure as determinants of timing and size. The network-level review of temperature response addresses Arrhenius-based emergent scaling and temperature compensation; it is adjacent context and does not itself invoke stochastic variability.
