Spatial models link viral dispersal to host interferon responses during infection
The dominant thread is spatially explicit treatment of viral infection, in which dispersal shapes host response. A respiratory preprint separates within-host spread into local expansion and occasional long-range dissemination that seeds new infection foci, explicitly bridging spatial scales. A published spatially explicit stochastic model of in vitro influenza A infection integrates defective interfering particles, IFN signalling and dispersal to shape the type I interferon response. Across these items, interferon readouts appear in the published model, while explicit scale bridging appears in the preprint. A live attenuated influenza vaccine built around autophagy targeting and a bat alphacoronavirus study showing CEACAM6-dependent cell entry are adjacent context and do not model spatial dynamics.

Generation of an autophagy-targeting influenza A virus as live attenuated vaccine.
Despite existing vaccines, influenza remains a significant public health burden, highlighting the need for vaccine strategies with improved safety and efficacy.
Heart-nosed bat alphacoronaviruses use human CEACAM6 to enter cells.
Identifying viruses with zoonotic potential on the basis of their ability to enter human cells is a critical component of pandemic prediction, prevention and pr
