ODE and power-law models dissect glycolytic oscillations and plant circadian networks

The common thread is the use of explicit dynamical models whose structure can be interrogated directly. A multiscale stochastic Markov chain model of glycolysis is reduced to a two-dimensional Othmer-Aldridge-type ODE describing glycolytic oscillations, linking stochastic and deterministic descriptions. A plant circadian clock ODE is extended with added regulatory modules and examined through sensitivity, phase portrait, knockout and network-index analyses to identify key regulatory mechanisms and essential interactions. On the tooling side, BSTModelKit.jl provides an open-source Julia environment for building, simulating and analyzing S-system power-law models of biochemical networks, including sensitivity analysis. What is new is the combination of formal model reduction, perturbation-based network dissection, and reusable software for constructing such models.
