Reduced and agent-based models of tumor, granuloma, and bacterial population dynamics
The dominant thread across these three preprints is mathematical and computational modeling of multicellular populations, where spatial organization or fixation emerges from reduced equations or agent-based rules. A two-phenotype go-or-grow tumor model under cyclic hypoxia is reduced to a single oxygen-dependent equation and validated by numerical simulations. A CompuCell3D agent-based model of tuberculosis granuloma progression is compared with a prior within-host model and tested for parameter-dependent behavior. Agent-based simulations and a drift-diffusion model show that cell morphology and division rate govern fixation in dual bacterial populations. What is new is the pairing of analytical reduction with simulation-based validation. Because the systems differ mechanistically, the shared element is methodological rather than mechanistic.
