Coarse-grained models link molecular determinants to condensate phase behavior
The three preprints use coarse-grained descriptions to connect molecular-scale determinants with condensate phase behavior. In chromatin, one study links nucleosome spacing heterogeneity and active remodeling to condensate mixing, swelling and segregation. In ribonucleoprotein systems, a model coupling saturable protein-RNA binding with multivalent protein interactions accounts for RNA-length-dependent and re-entrant behavior. A third study applies long-time simulations to biomolecular condensates generally, reporting critical phenomena and critical exponents that separate diverse condensates into two universality classes. The dominant thread is explicit coupling of heterogeneity, active processes, or binding saturation to phase behavior within a single coarse-grained framework, with the critical-scaling analysis extending this view to universal organization across condensate types. The systems differ and the items do not test one another directly.
