Wiring Structure Shapes Emergent Dynamics in Modeled Cortical Networks
The dominant thread across these items is explicit linkage between defined connectivity structure and emergent network dynamics. A 1000-neuron Izhikevich simulation with STDP and axonal delays reports that clustering coefficient drives polychronous group yield and introduces a label-free recurrence-plot characterization. A mean-field theory of multi-population recurrent networks shows that cell-type-specific synaptic motifs couple mean and variability dynamics, with motif-based models fit to mouse V1. A biophysical model of the developing rat somatosensory cortex, parameterized by measured ascending neuromodulator innervation, predicts acetylcholine, dopamine and serotonin effects on oscillations. What is new is direct connection of measured or specified wiring, at motif and innervation level, to dynamical outcomes rather than treatment of connectivity as a generic random graph. The third item is a published study; the first two are preprints.
