Specificity-aware tools for microbial probe design, signature discovery and annotation
The dominant thread is discrimination-oriented tool design for microbial sequence data: each item extracts taxon-level or genome-level specificity from collections of sequences. OligoN-design derives taxon-specific probes and primers from FASTA target and non-target sets and scales to large ribosomal datasets. Seqwin uses weighted pan-genome minimizer graphs to identify microbial signature sequences rapidly and is open source. BacExplorer offers an integrated, locally installable, GUI-driven platform for de novo bacterial genome annotation, with an interactive HTML report aimed at non-expert users. What is new is the orientation toward throughput and accessibility: speed for Seqwin, scale for OligoN-design, and usability for BacExplorer. The items do not share an explicit artefact class, so error handling should not be assumed across them.
