Noise, dispersal, and nutrient limits reshape predator-prey population dynamics
The three preprints examine how constraints at the population and community level determine which dynamical states persist in predator-prey and consumer-resource systems. Gillespie simulations and XY-model theory link demographic noise and migration to spatial synchronization of predator-prey oscillations. A stage-structured producer-grazer model with carbon and phosphorus co-limitation, parameterized for algae-Daphnia, reports that stoichiometric constraints shift equilibria. Local Fokker-Planck equations with mean-field closure compute stationary states of stochastic generalized Lotka-Volterra models on sparse asymmetric graphs. The shared thread is that stochasticity, spatial coupling, nutrient co-limitation, and interaction network structure each reshape which population states persist. What is new is the joint treatment of these constraints within stochastic ecological models, with the graph-based closure extending stationary-state calculation to sparse, asymmetric interaction structure.
